Building an AI-Literate Africa
AI 101 Academy NPC is a South African non-profit company working to make practical, responsible artificial intelligence and digital skills accessible across Africa.

Born from a simple conviction.
Africa stands at a defining moment. Artificial intelligence is transforming economies, reshaping work and expanding what is possible across education, business, healthcare, engineering, agriculture and public services. Yet access to AI education, digital tools and credible guidance remains deeply unequal.
AI 101 Academy NPC was established to help close that gap through practical, inclusive and community-centred learning. We do not believe AI education should remain theoretical, inaccessible or reserved for a few. It should help people solve real problems, pursue meaningful careers, grow enterprises and contribute to their communities.
As a registered Non-Profit Company in South Africa, we exist to serve the public good. Every programme, partnership and contribution is directed towards a shared goal: building an Africa where people are equipped to participate confidently and responsibly in the AI era.
Our Mission
To make practical, responsible AI education accessible across Africa, empowering individuals and communities with the digital skills, confidence and opportunity needed to thrive in a changing world.
Our Vision
An Africa where every person, regardless of background, geography, gender or income, can access the AI and digital skills needed to participate fully in the opportunities of the future.
Why We Exist
The AI revolution must not pass Africa by. Africa has one of the world's youngest and fastest-growing populations. With the right access to skills, tools and support, its people can become creators, problem-solvers, entrepreneurs and leaders in the global digital economy. We exist to ensure that talent is not limited by unequal access to opportunity, and that communities historically excluded from emerging technology are included from the beginning.
The principles that guide our work.
Accessibility
AI education should be available to everyone, regardless of location, income, gender, age or prior technical experience.
Integrity
We act with honesty, transparency and accountability in our programmes, partnerships and stewardship of resources.
Inclusion
We deliberately design for people and communities who are often under-served or under-represented in technology.
Excellence
We provide high-quality, practical learning that is relevant, responsible and designed to create real value.
Partnership
Lasting impact is built together with communities, educators, funders, institutions, governments and industry.
Sustainability
We build skills, local capacity and partnerships that can continue to create value beyond a single programme or funding cycle.
Turning mission into measurable impact.
We combine practical curriculum, local partnerships, community delivery and outcome measurement so that learning leads to meaningful and lasting opportunity.
Understand
We listen to communities, institutions and participants to understand their needs, barriers and aspirations before designing programmes.
Design
We develop practical, inclusive learning experiences aligned to outcomes that matter, including employability, entrepreneurship, confidence, digital participation and problem-solving.
Deliver
We work through trusted local partners, educators and community champions, meeting people where they are and adapting delivery to their context.
Measure
We monitor participation, learning and programme outcomes, using evidence to improve delivery and report meaningfully to partners and supporters.
