Artificial intelligence is reshaping every industry, profession and society. For Africa, this is both a defining opportunity and an urgent challenge. Without intentional, inclusive action, unequal access to technology, connectivity and relevant education could leave millions of Africans behind. Vision 2036 is AI 101 Academy NPC’s commitment to help ensure that does not happen.
By 2036, we aim to empower 5 million Africans with practical, responsible AI and digital skills, helping people across the continent participate in the digital economy not only as users of technology, but as creators, innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders.
Vision 2036 is a measurable, time-bound commitment to practical AI education across Africa. We are working towards a future in which young people, women, professionals, entrepreneurs and underserved communities have access to learning opportunities that build confidence, capability and meaningful pathways into the AI-driven economy.

This is an ambitious goal. It will require accountable leadership, strong partnerships, local delivery and ongoing measurement of reach, learning and impact.
What Vision 2036 stands on.
5 Million People Empowered
AI and digital skills should not be limited by income, geography, gender, age or prior technical experience. We aim to create accessible learning pathways for children, youth, adults, professionals and entrepreneurs, helping people understand and use AI responsibly in everyday life, education, work and business.
Pan-African Reach
Africa’s opportunities and challenges are diverse. Our long-term approach is to grow through local partnerships, community organisations, educators, institutions and country-level networks. This enables learning to be relevant to local realities while contributing to a shared continental movement for inclusive AI education.
Education at Every Level
AI learning must meet people where they are. Our programmes are designed for schools, TVET colleges, universities, workplaces, entrepreneurial ecosystems and community spaces, with learning adapted to different ages, needs and levels of experience.
Economic Transformation
AI skills should lead to opportunity. We aim to help people improve employability, strengthen professional capability, build businesses, solve local problems and participate more confidently in a changing digital economy.
Three phases towards 5 million Africans.
Vision 2036 will be delivered in phases, with clear milestones and a commitment to learn, improve and grow responsibly.
2026–2028
Phase 1: Foundation
Establish the Academy’s core programmes, delivery model and strategic partnerships, beginning in South Africa and selected African pilot locations.
- Launch priority AI and digital skills programmes
- Reach the first 100,000 learners
- Establish initial country and community delivery partnerships
- Develop practical, inclusive learning resources
- Build systems for programme monitoring and impact reporting
2029–2032
Phase 2: Scale
Expand delivery through stronger regional partnerships, educator networks and community-led implementation models.
- Operate across 15 or more African countries
- Reach 1 million learners
- Expand mentorship, educator development and youth pathways
- Strengthen partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, government, civil society and industry
- Build sustainable, locally relevant programme delivery
2033–2036
Phase 3: Continental Impact
Extend the movement across Africa and demonstrate how inclusive AI education can contribute to opportunity, innovation and economic participation.
